Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 24, 2026
Local SEO Bot LLC operates Recommended. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and the choices you have. It applies to app.recommended.so and to the service we provide there.
What Recommended does
Recommended tells a local business owner whether AI assistants name their business when someone asks for a business like theirs. We ask ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Claude a set of real customer questions on your behalf, and count how often your business is named in the answers.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign up we collect your name, email address, business name, and billing details. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers.
- What you tell us about your business. Your business name, the city you want to be found in, and the five customer questions we ask on your behalf for each location. You can edit those questions.
- Google account and Google Business Profile data. If you connect your Google account, we request access through Google OAuth to the Google Business Profile data the review features need, which is your business details and your reviews. We request only the scopes those features need, and you can review and revoke that access at any time.
- Usage and device data. Like most websites we automatically collect log data such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps, to operate and improve the service.
- Communications. If you contact support we keep a record of that correspondence.
How we use your information
- Provide, maintain and improve the service;
- Ask your questions of AI assistants on your behalf, score the answers, and show you the results over time;
- Read your Google Business Profile reviews when you connect it;
- Process payments and manage your subscription;
- Send service and account notices, and respond to support requests;
- Detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse and security issues;
- Comply with legal obligations.
What we send to AI assistants
Running a check means sending your questions, which normally contain your city and the kind of business you are, to the AI assistants listed below. We send them through one vendor, DataForSEO, which carries the question to each assistant and returns the answer in a single format.
We do not send your email address, your billing details, or your Google account data to any AI assistant.
How Recommended's use of Google user data complies with Google's Limited Use requirements
Recommended's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- We only use Google user data to provide and improve the features you request within the service.
- We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except as necessary to provide or improve the service, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets with notice to you.
- We do not use Google user data for serving advertisements, and we do not sell Google user data.
- We do not allow humans to read Google user data unless we have your affirmative agreement for specific messages, doing so is necessary for security purposes such as investigating abuse, to comply with applicable law, or our use is limited to internal operations and the data has been aggregated and anonymized.
- Google user data is never sent to an AI assistant as part of a check.
Who processes data for us
We do not sell your personal information. These are the companies that process data on our behalf, and what each one handles:
- DataForSEO carries your questions to the AI assistants and returns their answers.
- OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity and Google answer those questions. They are reached through DataForSEO rather than directly.
- Stripe processes payments and holds your card details.
- Supabase hosts our database and handles sign-in and account email such as address confirmation.
- Vercel hosts the application.
- Resend delivers our transactional email, such as password resets.
- Google provides business lookup when you search for your business during signup, and Google Business Profile access when you connect it.
- Google Tag Manager loads our website analytics, when analytics is configured.
We share information with these providers under contracts that require them to protect it. We also share information where required by law or to protect our rights, our users or the public, and in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, with notice to you.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account exists, and we do not delete it automatically afterwards. There is no scheduled job that erases or anonymises data after a set period. We would rather say that than name a timetable nothing enforces.
What we keep includes the questions we ask on your behalf and the answers we collected, so that the history a check is judged against stays intact, and any Google Business Profile data we pulled while your profile was connected, including reviews Google itself has since stopped showing.
To have your data deleted, email support@recommended.so from the address on your account and ask. A person does it. It removes your account and your login, your locations, the questions we hold for them, your check history, the Google Business Profile data held for those locations, and our record of your support correspondence. It also cancels your subscription so billing stops. We will reply when it is done.
Two things do not go away when an account is deleted:
- Payment records held by Stripe, which are kept for tax and accounting.
- The record that you signed up, with the link to your account removed, so that we do not later contact you as a new prospect.
Disconnecting a Google Business Profile inside the app removes the stored connection and asks Google to revoke our token. Revoking our access from your Google Account permissions page stops us reading anything new, but on its own it does not delete what we already pulled. Ask us and we will remove that too.
Your choices and rights
- Revoke Google access at any time from your Google Account permissions page or from within the app.
- Access, correct or delete your personal data by contacting us at support@recommended.so.
- Cancel your subscription yourself, from the billing page in the app. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and you keep full access until then. It stops the billing; it does not delete anything, and your locations, questions and history stay as they are.
- Close your account by emailing support@recommended.so from the address on your account. There is no button for this — a person closes it by hand. See Data retention above for what closing an account removes, and the two things it does not.
Security
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and limit access to it.
Children's privacy
The service is intended for businesses and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International users
We operate in the United States, and your information may be processed there. By using the service you consent to that transfer and processing.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Last updated date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice.
